Fossil’s Philippe Starck collection of digital watches (also written Phillipe S+arck) is entirely consistent with the rest of Starck’s work : unique, minimal, functional, weird, and fun. ; All the watches in the collection are relatively simple, affordable, and no doubt serve as both time and conversation pieces. ; Philippe Patrick Starck (born January 18, 1949, Paris) is a well-known French Product designer and probably the best known designer in the New Design style. His designs range from spectacular interior designs to mass produced consumer goods such as toothbrushes, chairs, even houses and of course watches. Much of his work produced in the 1980s and 1990s was influenced by fashion and novelty. It has even been referred to by some as being ‘overdesigned’. In the 21st century his approach to design seems to have changed. Starck has recently promoted the ethos that honesty and integrity should be at the core of design. Products should not be created as ‘throw away artifacts’, only surviving for as long as they remain in fashion but should ideally have longevity and durability. He believes that as designers we need to be both honest and objective.
